Microblading vs Powder Brows

Microblading vs. Powder Brows vs. Combination Brows

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent eyebrow tattooing where the ink is implanted under your skin using a handheld tool. Feather-like strokes are used to mimic the natural hair of your eyebrows.
Microblading does not go as deep as a regular tattoo, thus needs to be touched up every 1-2 years, depending on your lifestyle and skin type.

What are Ombre/Powder Brows?

This is also a semi-permanent technique but uses a traditional tattooing method done with a wireless tattooing pen.
Ombre just means that the eyebrows are lighter in the fronts and darker at the tails. Powder refers to the pixelated dots implanted into the skin that mimic powder. This type of brow is minimally invasive, and heal very soft and natural.  It can be buildable from light to dark. This method works best on all skin types, including oily and combination, and is my favourite type of brow to do. Powder Brows are defined yet soft, like a powdery makeup finish.

What are Combination Brows?

Combination brows are a combo of microblading and powder brows. Typically, the front of your brows are micobladed with hair like strokes, and the rest of the brow is done with the wireless tattoo pen and pixelated dots that mimic powder. It is the perfect combination and is a bit more filled in and defined than just microblading.

Which technique is best for me?

Semipermanent Eyebrows are the perfect solution for those who have little-to-no eyebrows, those with sparse eyebrows who want to fill in the gaps, those who have too much brow and want an eyelift (without plastic surgery!), and for those who are just tired of filling in their eyebrows every day.
Microblading is best suited for someone who has thin, patchy, or see through eyebrows. If you’d just like a subtle brow shape enhancement or you don’t fill in your brows regularly, microblading is for you. If you have oily, combination, or sensitive skin, I recommend Powder Brows
Ombre/Powder Brows is best for oily, combination or sensitive skins, as stated above. If you fill in your eyebrows regularly with brow pencils, pomades, or shadows, you’ll love this method as it mimics powder.
Combination Brows are totally suitable for everyone. It’s just a personal preference at this point!

What can I expect during my appointment?

First, we consult and draw on the perfect shape for your face. The process is meticulous and no tattooing will be done until you are 100% satisfied with the drawn on eyebrows. Each shape is customized to each client – no stencils!
Next, we apply a numbing cream and begin the tattoo process. No recovery time is needed!
The healing process varies and can take up to 4-6 weeks. You may experience redness or itchiness but the discomfort levels are low.

Once they are healed, you may enjoy your eyebrows however you please! Rub them, sweat with them, swim with them, and the best part? You don’t have to fill them in anymore!
