WAXING TIPS

Waxing Tips

Waxing can be scary for some- I get that– but don’t chicken out of your appointment. It’s not as bad as you think and here are some waxing tips to make you more comfortable.

  • Exfoliate. This will help open up the pores making for an easier removal. Exfoliating regularly will also prevent ingrown hairs.
  • Moisturize the area. Dry skin can make waxing more painful than it should be so shower, clean, exfoliate, and moisturize the area.
  • Trim the hair. But not too short! 1/2″ – 1″ is the ideal length for waxing.
  • Ibuprofen. If you think you really can’t handle it, pre-medicate about an hour before your appointment to make your experience more comfortable.
  • Emla. Apply numbing cream to the area 30 minutes before your appointment. This isn’t necessary but might help ease your mind!

Still having doubts? The benefits of waxing as a hair removal method outweigh it’s scary factor:

  • Long-lasting results. After waxing, the hair can take anywhere between 2-4 weeks to grow back.
  • Hair is removed from the root. Unlike shaving, waxing removes the hair follicle from the root so when it grows back, it’s thinner and softer making for an easier removal the next time around. Shaving and depilatory creams cause the hair to grow back thicker, resulting in stubble.
  • Diminished regrowth. With every wax, the hair becomes sparse and takes longer to grow back.
  • No itching. Unlike shaving, you will not experience any itching or pain as the hair grows back.

I make it a policy to be honest with my clients. Yes, you can break out and yes, you may have an in-grown hair or two but there will be less issues than with shaving. You won’t nick yourself with a dull blade, you won’t experience any razor burn, your hair will not grow back thicker and more noticeably.

If you have sensitive skin and/or are prone to break outs, just let me know while booking your appointment! I have a wax that is specifically formulated for these kinds of issues.
If in grown hairs are your issues, regular exfoliation and moisturizing of the affected area will put a stop to that.
