TWO DISCLAIMERS:
First, sorry for the click-baity title. Second, in no way am I saying that acne-prone skin is abnormal BUT acne on my skin is definitely abnormal.

Now that those disclaimers are out of the way, let me get onto this post.

Recently, I posted a Skin Care Love post regarding the Deciem Vitamin C booster (you can read that here) and although I still enjoyed using that product, I have discontinued it’s use for the time being. Keep reading to find out why.

About a week and a half ago, I incorporated The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA into my daily skincare routine. Every morning, I’d spritz my skin with DECIEM’s Hyldamide Hydra-Density Booster, and follow up with DECIEM’s The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA.
After a few days, I have a giant breakout on my right cheek. I chalked it up to hormones and thought nothing of it.
After a week, I had full blown acne or some type of reaction all over the top half of my face. At it’s worst, I counted TWENTY-THREE red, sore bumps.

For someone who has NEVER suffered from acne, not as a pre-teen, a teenager, or in my early-mid-til-now (29) 20s. Sure I get the odd hormonal zit but that’s it. Needless to say, I’m mortified; and scared that this ish is never going to go away.

I have discontinued the use of ALL DECIEM products I was using and have gone back to my original skincare routine in hopes of clearing my face up. I’m also not wearing makeup every day just so I can let my skin breathe. I sit with a face mask on 3x a week in hopes of clearing it up. On it’s gentlest cycle, I’m using my Conair True Glow Sonic Facial Skin Care System every night, in hopes of clearing up my face.

My skin IS clearing up, just not as fast as I want it to but at this point, there’s nothing I can do but use my go-to skincare routine day in and day out. My skin is still bumpy and red but they’re not sore anymore and that’s an improvement for sure.

I purchased The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA after reading great reviews. Albeit, not everyone’s skin reacts the same but holy crap! I have never experienced anything so bad!

I don’t just think The Ordinary Moisturizing Factors + HA is the issue here, I KNOW it.  The second ingredient in this product is caprylic/capric triglyceride aka coconut oil and glycerin (an emollient). Not to say that this is a bad ingredient but this just goes to show that The Ordinary Moisturizing Factors + HA is not for everyone.
My skin type is normal and this is just way too rich for me. Essentially, the coconut oil derivative was clogging my pores and unless you have super duper dry skin, or may even oily skin, this is not a good product for you and I would steer clear. Learn from my mistake! lol

Once my skin clears up, I’m going to try reintroducing the Vitamin C Booster in the evening and the Hylamide Hydra-Density Booster in the morning. As for The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA, I’m tossing it in the trash.
