Since I got back from Sicily, I’ve been trying to hold onto my tan as long as I could but slowly (and obviously), it’s been fading. This saddens me because I love how I feel and how I look with a great tan but I don’t want to expose myself to those harmful tanning beds so I’ve been on the search for an amazing self tanner that will not turn orange, that does not smell, and that does not turn blotchy or leave streaks. Fake Bake Orginial Self Tanning Lotion is that product, although it’s a bit on the pricey side (but worth every penny).
Fake Bake Original Self Tanning Lotion comes in a 170ml (6oz) bottle and with a pair of reusable gloves for application.
It is best to apply (any & all) self tanner on exfoliated skin. If you have dry patches, the self tanner will not spread as easily and you will be left with dark spots where the dry patches are.
To exfoliate:
- take your favourite loofah;
- apply a bath/body wash to it;
- wet your skin;
- then, scrub in circular motions.
NOTE: do no scrub too hard, you’ll create tiny scratches all over your skin.
After your skin is fully exfoliated, put on the gloves & get to work with the self tanner, rubbing the lotion on your skin in circular motions as to not create any streaks.
There is a darkening agent in this self-tanner that is activated upon contact with skin so if you leave the product on one spot for too long, it will stain.
What I love about this product is that you don’t need to stand around waiting for the self-tanner to dry and it doesn’t stain your clothes.
For best results, wait 4+ hours before showering (don’t forget to exfoliate each time!) Apply once a day until you get your desired color. Once you’ve reached your desired color, apply once a week to maintain the tan.
